Frequently Asked Questions
1. Do I need a referral to see you?
No, you do not need a referral to book a session with me. You can see me privately or, if eligible, use a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP.
2. What is a Mental Health Care Plan, and how do I get one?
A Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) is a plan created by a GP that allows eligible individuals to access Medicare rebates for mental health therapy sessions.
Under an MHCP, you can receive up to 10 rebated sessions per calendar year.
The Medicare rebate does not cover the full session cost, so there will be an out-of-pocket expense.
If you wish to see me under an MHCP, ask your GP to list my details on the referral as the mental health clinician you’d like to see.
3. Can I see you privately, or do I need a Mental Health Care Plan?
Yes, you can see me privately without a Mental Health Care Plan. Some clients choose to self-fund their sessions rather than go through Medicare.
4. Can I use private health insurance and a Mental Health Care Plan at the same time?
No, you cannot claim both a Medicare rebate (via a Mental Health Care Plan) and private health insurance for the same session. You may choose to use one or the other, depending on what works best for you.
5. Why am I qualified as an Occupational Therapist to provide mental health care?
As a Mental Health Occupational Therapist, I am trained to support people in improving their mental well-being through evidence-based therapy and functional strategies.
I have a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy and am fully registered with AHPRA.
I specialise in anxiety, depression, self-care, emotional regulation, and gym anxiety.
OTs that are endorsed, are recognised under Medicare’s Better Access Scheme as mental health providers, meaning you can access Medicare rebates if eligible.
6. Who do you not work with?
I do not work with:
Crisis clients who require immediate or emergency mental health support. If you are in crisis, please contact Lifeline (13 11 14), Beyond Blue, or emergency services (000) for immediate assistance.
Children or adolescents under 18.
Couples—I work with individuals only.
Drug and alcohol addiction clients.
7. Do you work with children or couples?
No, I only work with individual adults aged 18 and over.
8. What’s the difference between your Personal Training services and therapy?
Personal Training (PT) is purely for fitness and is not therapy. It is designed to help women improve their physical health, strength, and confidence in a gym setting.
PT is not a substitute for mental health therapy.
If a client starts discussing mental health concerns during PT, I will direct them to book a mental health therapy session.
9. Who can access Personal Training services?
Personal Training is for females only. It is separate from my mental health services and my MoveMEANT Therapy™ program.
10. Are there rebates available for Personal Training?
No, Personal Training is not eligible for Medicare rebates, private health claims, or NDIS funding. It is a private fitness service priced at $85 per hour.
11. How do I book a session?
Mental Health Therapy – You can book directly through the online portal on my website.
Personal Training (PT) & MoveMEANT Therapy™ – These services require a Meet & Greet Consultation first, which must be arranged through the contact form on my website.
